What Am I Waiting For?

Who is God preparing to send as my Christian soul mate for life?
As I wait for His intended mate I know he will be right.

What am I looking for?
Who do I hope to find?
What kind of man is out there?
Who is in my mind?

I want a real man; a feeling man, a talker and a listener…
With integrity and honor; one who’s a really good kisser.
Creative and passionate with strong convictions in his heart,
Sensing needs, and wants, and ready to do his part.

I want a real man; a true man; supportive and expressive…
One who appreciates new challenges and won't be oppressive.
A reader, a writer, or a thinker would be fine,
In touch with his own identity; as personality and soul aligns.

I want a real man; a tall man; lean and smooth and strong…
One who touches my spirit and sends my heart aloft.
To cuddle, and snuggle up together when it’s cold,
I want him to be with me and see with me, as true partners of the soul.

Even-tempered, open-minded, slow to anger and ne’er to rage…
Neither a possessor, a controller nor a smoke or drink engage,
Emotional, yet healthy, a man of quality to be sure,
Well read; well spoken; full of curiosity and allure.

I want a real man; a sharing man; generous and kind…
One who interacts with me and enjoys pleasures of the sublime.
Respectful of my privacy, and is within himself complete,
Wondering when will our paths cross;
and asking, God, when will we meet?

The Weekend

I went to San Marcos over the weekend. Steve and Meagan also joined us at Matt's house. We had such a marvelous time! Matt's and Charlotte's home is very pretty and comfortable. I got to spend some real quality time with PJ... and Matt and Steve. The guys cooked every meal - and even cleaned up. They are gooooood cooks! They make everything from scratch. I truly enjoyed every minute of this special time with them.

REFLECTIONS OF THIS SUMMER...

As I think back over the summer several things have been confirmed to me once again... I love my simplified, peaceful life. God will provide if we trust Him. I treasure my family and friends. I have really been taking care of my health this summer. I enjoy my time and my home.

I did not work but one half day this whole summer... that meant that I would receive no paycheck other than my retirement. I had no choice, but to trust the LORD to provide, and HE DID!

I want you to know that I have been able to pay my bills each month, even with the addition of a few things like extending my house warranty and a few other unexpected things; I have had enough money to buy healthy, fresh foods (and we know that fresh has to be purchased more often and is more expensive); and I had enough money to join Weight Watchers and Jazzercise, both with automatic drafts from my account - in addition to my bills. Plus, I have not been without money in my account or cash in my wallet all summer. I have not been without anything! There is only ONE WAY and that is through God's provision. All praise and glory go to God!

ALSO, in less than 30 minutes from the time that I paid my tithes online for this last bit of money that I just received, I got a call to sub 8 days in September at one school, and there are more days coming, I know. Yippee!!! God is already got those 10 days a month I ask for during the school year lined up. I am just waiting for the calls.

I got out some old photos of Matt as a newborn to see if PJ looked like him at that age. I think it is too soon to tell... pretty much newborns all look similar. It will be fun to compare her pictures to his at the same age. I can't wait to see how much she looks like him or Charlotte. Fun!

PJ is here!!!

Penelope June Sanders - aka: PJ, Penny, or Junebug arrived at 12:20 PM on Friday July 25, 2008. She weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. She was met with an entourage of grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends. Welcome to this world, PJ. Your family loves you!

PJ's First Pictures

My Grandma Name is FINALLY chosen 4sho!

After tossing the proposed grandma name change to Matt and Steve they were not so happy. Steve said that Sugar sounded like an exotic dancer. That won't work so we went back to the drawing board and came up with a name that everyone likes, me included. I am Meme for sure!

PJ is coming!!! The doctor will induce Charlotte Friday morning so PJ should be here Friday afternoon or evening, unless she decides to come into this world earlier on her own.

I am still getting used to the fact that I will be a grandmother, but I am sure that the second I see her and hold her everything will feel perfect! Watch for pictures sooooooon.
The closer it gets to the birth of my first grandbaby the more I realize that I was not 100% happy with the name I had chosen. I settled for "Gram" and Matt, Charlotte, and Steve liked it so I was OK with it too.

Well... I think I want to change it - QUICK - while I still can. I always wanted a name that started with and "S" and I wanted something different from other grandma names.

My daddy used to call me "Sugar". I still have the sweater and football letter with Sugar on it that I wore as a little girl. You see, my dad was the football coach and Athletic Director so my sister and I would always get to have really cool things like the cheerleaders. We had a megaphone necklace, got to be in the homecoming ceremonies, and things like that. Often some of his players and cheerleaders came to pick me up from school and take me home in the afternoon. Did I think I was cool or what!?!?

Anyway... after much more deliberation and deep thought I have decided that I will be Sugar instead of Gram. It is a much more fun name, don'tcha think?

Sorry, Matt and Charlotte. It is my call to name myself. Ya'll got to name Penelope June (PJ). I hope you get used to it. I love ya'll!

What a deal!

I was planning to tell my yard man that I am going to have to stop his services for a while, at least until I go back to work. I was talking to my neighbor and told him that I was going to start doing my yard. He has been borrowing my mower until his is fixed and he said that he planned to take his mower in this week.

He only has grass in the front and it would only take about 5 minutes so I told him that I would mow his yard. I just have to walk a few more steps - no biggie. He said he would edge my yard. I said... front and back? He said sure because he hates to mow. I hate to edge.

So we shook on it. We will do yards Sunday evenings about 7ish; he will edge; I will mow; we both will sweep our own. That saves me $40/month plus will give me a bit more exercise. It is a win-win!!! Yippee!!!

I just learned how to create and upload a slide show. Actually, it was a cooperative effort with my talented niece, Ashley. She is my "blog mentor." If you don't want to scroll through the photos at your own pace you can see all of them quickly on this slide show.

Last week was my birthday (July 5th) and Ashley's birthday (July 2nd). Every year Becky makes a birthday breakfast. We enjoyed getting together to eat, visit, and then we ended up watching a movie together. We had a good time! Left to right we are: Reagan, Lindsay, Sandy, Ashley, Kennedy, and Becky. Ashley's husband, Nathan, took the photo. Thanks for the delicious birthday meal, Beck!

Here are some pics of my house and a few before and after shots. (You can click on a photo to enlarge it if you want.)

I am working my way down and I am learning a lot in the process! I started by removing border and wallpaper, applying texture to the walls, painting, and next will be painting the doors, door frames, and baseboards. Replacing the carpet and putting in ceramic tile in the master bathroom is after that.

As a home owner the projects are never ending. There is always that next thing you want to do to the house. So...what do you think???

As you view the photos of my house - inside and out - when you get to the bottom of this first page, and every page after, click on "old posts" until you get to the end. I posted a lot of pics today and they won't all fit on one page.

A Favorite Verse Brought To Mind

Today on "Everyday Life With Joyce Meyer" Joyce referenced these verses from Ephesians 4: 14-17 AMP.

14Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.

15Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

16Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

17Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

This caught my attention today because so often we sleepwalk through life instead of living purposefully, worthily, and accurately. We should live as wise, sensible and intelligent people and make the most of the time we have as we don't ever know how long we have.

I learned a long time ago that it is important to tell people we love that we love them and that we appreciate them and not put it off for later because there may not be a later.

The giver and receiver both get joy from this. So why wait? Seize the moment and tell people how much they truly mean to you TODAY!

GETTING OLDER :-(

I saw my mother today. WHAT!?!? Actually I see her in me more and more as I get older. Many times I look down at my hands and see her hands. Today I saw her legs, feet, and shoes.

I have planter fasciitis, a bone spur on my right heel, and a bunion on my right foot. (It is so much fun to get older - not.) So... I decided to shop at the SAS Shoe store to see what I could find that would be comfortable on the days I work since I stand and walk a lot.

I found a reasonably nice (not tooooo old lady looking) pair of shoes that would work with pants. I tried them on. When I walked up to the mirror to see how they looked, there she was... in me. What I saw in the mirror were HER legs, feet, and shoes. Oh my gosh!

Did I buy those shoes? No... not yet at least. Maybe I will closer to going back to work in the fall and after I get over the "scare" of seeing her there in me.

Becky, get ready! I bet you will see her soon yourself, if you don't already.

MY GODFAMILY

I am fortunate indeed! I have two wonderful sons, a sweet daughter-in-law, a great sister, and SIX godchildren.

They are Erica, Jason and his 4 children: Jason Jr, Sadie, Jalon, and Jaehlea.

I am so proud of all of them! The little ones spent last weekend at my house. What fun!

I will have a pic of them posted soon. I hope I was able to capture the image with everyone looking the same direction and hopefully with a smile on their faces.

MY HOUSE

When I bought this house I had to look past the outdated decorating. It was quite feminine, but not my taste.

There were BIG floral patterns and bunnies everywhere. Every room, including the laundry room, had a floral border. The kitchen and dining room, as well as the master bathroom, had wallpaper in addition to the border.

Every room had a different floral pattern. There are still are stained glass bunnies over the front door and the carpet all over the house is mauve-pink.

My house projects started with opening up the kitchen to the living room. Originally it was open. The previous owner built a wall to close it up and did I feel closed in!

I have now removed every scrap of wallpaper and border from the walls. Every wall has been textured and painted.

My yard is looking really great as well. It is amazing what a little TLC will do for a home.

One day I will replace the carpet, but I am starting at the top and working my way down. It has already been transformed in just a year and I am enjoying living here.

I will post photos soon! Check back.

LIFE IN RETIREMENT

Life is grand these days; I love retirement!

Actually you could say that I am semi-retired as I sub as an administrator in my former school district. I really enjoy that! I can go to work when scheduled and leave ON TIME with nothing to do at home and nothing to worry about for the next day.

I have several favorite schools. The top two favs are a complete surprise to me - a middle school and a high school. Who would have ever "thunk" it? I am finding out that it is the same except the kids are in bigger bodies... and some of the problems I deal with are more serious; however, I am getting to know them and they are getting to know me. I have my own permanent ID badge at these two schools. They have really made me feel welcome and needed.

Oh, the joys of being a home owner!

Last week my AC went out - three days before my warranty was up. Fortunately I had renewed it two weeks prior and added extended coverage for the AC. (My house is 14 years old so I knew that things may start breaking down in the next few years)

Anyway, it was hot so I stayed at my sister's house in Rockwall Friday - Monday when the AC repair man could get there. He said everything was fine, the breaker was tripped. Ugh!! Money spent for nothing! I did not think to check that because the unit was running. Apparently the inside unit was running, but the outside was not.

Anyway, they said that I needed to call in an electrician. OUCH... more money!!! It would feel warm now and then so I would go out and flip the breaker switch and it would cool off again - for a few hours. I had to do that many times over the weekend. My handyman was at my house this Saturday texturing and painting and doing other odds and ends and put in a new breaker switch for me. It still tripped the breaker over and over.

I called the AC people again and they came out and put in a new motor and now the house is cooooooooool. Because of my renewed warranty it did not cost me anything!!!

New installment on the AC Saga...
I thought I was home free - wrong! About 28 hours later I walked into my house and it was not cool. :-( I checked and yes, I had to flip the breaker AGAIN. So, reluctantly I called the home warranty company back and told them of the continuing problem. I am waiting to hear from the AC repair company. In the meantime, I am afraid to keep flipping the breaker because that is an indication that something is wrong. I don't want to make it worse.

6-12-08
The AC man came back today. He can't find anything wrong, but he added something to help the compressor, just in case. Let's cross our fingers that it is fixed and that I don't have a more serious electrical problem!

Welcome, Penelope June Sanders!

Great news! Matt and Charlotte are going to be parents!!!

PJ, or Penny, as I choose to call her, should arrive around July 31st. She will be my first grandbaby.

With the wonderful news of a grandbaby the time had come to select a name for myself.

My sister, Becky, is Mims. My friend, Susan, is Nana. I wanted to find a really cool "grandma name" that did not shout OLD. I had several picked out that I liked, but of all the names I suggested to Matt, Charlotte and Steve none would do. They wanted a more traditional name. I just didn't want granny or mamaw or the like.

We finally all agreed upon "Gram." I would be OK with Grammy, but it better NOT end up as granny!
