Here are some pics of my house and a few before and after shots. (You can click on a photo to enlarge it if you want.)

I am working my way down and I am learning a lot in the process! I started by removing border and wallpaper, applying texture to the walls, painting, and next will be painting the doors, door frames, and baseboards. Replacing the carpet and putting in ceramic tile in the master bathroom is after that.

As a home owner the projects are never ending. There is always that next thing you want to do to the house. So...what do you think???

As you view the photos of my house - inside and out - when you get to the bottom of this first page, and every page after, click on "old posts" until you get to the end. I posted a lot of pics today and they won't all fit on one page.

A Favorite Verse Brought To Mind

Today on "Everyday Life With Joyce Meyer" Joyce referenced these verses from Ephesians 4: 14-17 AMP.

14Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.

15Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

16Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

17Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

This caught my attention today because so often we sleepwalk through life instead of living purposefully, worthily, and accurately. We should live as wise, sensible and intelligent people and make the most of the time we have as we don't ever know how long we have.

I learned a long time ago that it is important to tell people we love that we love them and that we appreciate them and not put it off for later because there may not be a later.

The giver and receiver both get joy from this. So why wait? Seize the moment and tell people how much they truly mean to you TODAY!

GETTING OLDER :-(

I saw my mother today. WHAT!?!? Actually I see her in me more and more as I get older. Many times I look down at my hands and see her hands. Today I saw her legs, feet, and shoes.

I have planter fasciitis, a bone spur on my right heel, and a bunion on my right foot. (It is so much fun to get older - not.) So... I decided to shop at the SAS Shoe store to see what I could find that would be comfortable on the days I work since I stand and walk a lot.

I found a reasonably nice (not tooooo old lady looking) pair of shoes that would work with pants. I tried them on. When I walked up to the mirror to see how they looked, there she was... in me. What I saw in the mirror were HER legs, feet, and shoes. Oh my gosh!

Did I buy those shoes? No... not yet at least. Maybe I will closer to going back to work in the fall and after I get over the "scare" of seeing her there in me.

Becky, get ready! I bet you will see her soon yourself, if you don't already.

MY GODFAMILY

I am fortunate indeed! I have two wonderful sons, a sweet daughter-in-law, a great sister, and SIX godchildren.

They are Erica, Jason and his 4 children: Jason Jr, Sadie, Jalon, and Jaehlea.

I am so proud of all of them! The little ones spent last weekend at my house. What fun!

I will have a pic of them posted soon. I hope I was able to capture the image with everyone looking the same direction and hopefully with a smile on their faces.

MY HOUSE

When I bought this house I had to look past the outdated decorating. It was quite feminine, but not my taste.

There were BIG floral patterns and bunnies everywhere. Every room, including the laundry room, had a floral border. The kitchen and dining room, as well as the master bathroom, had wallpaper in addition to the border.

Every room had a different floral pattern. There are still are stained glass bunnies over the front door and the carpet all over the house is mauve-pink.

My house projects started with opening up the kitchen to the living room. Originally it was open. The previous owner built a wall to close it up and did I feel closed in!

I have now removed every scrap of wallpaper and border from the walls. Every wall has been textured and painted.

My yard is looking really great as well. It is amazing what a little TLC will do for a home.

One day I will replace the carpet, but I am starting at the top and working my way down. It has already been transformed in just a year and I am enjoying living here.

I will post photos soon! Check back.

LIFE IN RETIREMENT

Life is grand these days; I love retirement!

Actually you could say that I am semi-retired as I sub as an administrator in my former school district. I really enjoy that! I can go to work when scheduled and leave ON TIME with nothing to do at home and nothing to worry about for the next day.

I have several favorite schools. The top two favs are a complete surprise to me - a middle school and a high school. Who would have ever "thunk" it? I am finding out that it is the same except the kids are in bigger bodies... and some of the problems I deal with are more serious; however, I am getting to know them and they are getting to know me. I have my own permanent ID badge at these two schools. They have really made me feel welcome and needed.

Oh, the joys of being a home owner!

Last week my AC went out - three days before my warranty was up. Fortunately I had renewed it two weeks prior and added extended coverage for the AC. (My house is 14 years old so I knew that things may start breaking down in the next few years)

Anyway, it was hot so I stayed at my sister's house in Rockwall Friday - Monday when the AC repair man could get there. He said everything was fine, the breaker was tripped. Ugh!! Money spent for nothing! I did not think to check that because the unit was running. Apparently the inside unit was running, but the outside was not.

Anyway, they said that I needed to call in an electrician. OUCH... more money!!! It would feel warm now and then so I would go out and flip the breaker switch and it would cool off again - for a few hours. I had to do that many times over the weekend. My handyman was at my house this Saturday texturing and painting and doing other odds and ends and put in a new breaker switch for me. It still tripped the breaker over and over.

I called the AC people again and they came out and put in a new motor and now the house is cooooooooool. Because of my renewed warranty it did not cost me anything!!!

New installment on the AC Saga...
I thought I was home free - wrong! About 28 hours later I walked into my house and it was not cool. :-( I checked and yes, I had to flip the breaker AGAIN. So, reluctantly I called the home warranty company back and told them of the continuing problem. I am waiting to hear from the AC repair company. In the meantime, I am afraid to keep flipping the breaker because that is an indication that something is wrong. I don't want to make it worse.

6-12-08
The AC man came back today. He can't find anything wrong, but he added something to help the compressor, just in case. Let's cross our fingers that it is fixed and that I don't have a more serious electrical problem!

Welcome, Penelope June Sanders!

Great news! Matt and Charlotte are going to be parents!!!

PJ, or Penny, as I choose to call her, should arrive around July 31st. She will be my first grandbaby.

With the wonderful news of a grandbaby the time had come to select a name for myself.

My sister, Becky, is Mims. My friend, Susan, is Nana. I wanted to find a really cool "grandma name" that did not shout OLD. I had several picked out that I liked, but of all the names I suggested to Matt, Charlotte and Steve none would do. They wanted a more traditional name. I just didn't want granny or mamaw or the like.

We finally all agreed upon "Gram." I would be OK with Grammy, but it better NOT end up as granny!
